CICRP pursues a research policy focused mainly on the phenomena of the alteration of heritage materials in its fields of expertise.
It is equipped with substantial analysis and investigation equipment. It is also the most important public laboratory in the region that is dedicated to the research of heritage materials and works.
It participates in or leads French, Europeans, or international programs reported in the annual reviews.
CICRP has developed partnerships in particular with French public institutions and laboratories : Centre de recherche et de restauration des Musées de France (C2RMF, Center for Research and Restoration of the Museums of France), Laboratoire de Recherche des Monuments Historiques (LRMH, Laboratory for Research of Historic Monuments), Centre de Conservation des Collections (CRCC, Center for the Conservation of Collections), Institut National du Patrimoine (INP, National Institute of Heritage).
Since 2017, it has been an access provider for European Research Infrastucture for Heritage Science (E-Rihs) France: http://www.erihs.fr/
Since 2018, it has been a member of the Fondation des Sciences du Patrimoine (Heritage Sciences Foundation): http://www.sciences-patrimoine.org/
In 2016, as part of the framework agreement of the French Ministry of Culture and the Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS, National Scientific Research Center), a LABCOM MAP-CICRP was created.
